Conventional Coastal Protection Is Failing Shorelines

– The Challenge

Stone seawalls, jetties and groins offer inadequate coastal protection — permanent, costly, environmentally disruptive, and still vulnerable to significant wave damage. Wavebrake's floating wave attenuator was engineered to replace them.

❌ No dock protection — pilings loosen, boat lines snap, and lifts are damaged by constant wake and wave action

❌ Permanent structures that cannot adapt to changing coastal conditions

❌ Serious compromise to immediate and surrounding marine environments

❌ Reflective/rebound action creates collateral damage to adjacent areas

❌ Heavy equipment and barges required for installation and removal

❌ Storm surges can erase 40 feet of waterfront land in a single afternoon

-The Advantages

With Wavebrake

✅ No heavy equipment or barges required

85% maximum wave height reduction – exceeding stone breakwaters

✅ A fraction of the cost of traditional breakwater systems

✅ Zero negative environmental impacts during and after installation

✅ Removable or permanent installation, subject to site conditions

✅ Scalable to any waterfront size, depth, or wave condition

How Our Wave Attenuator Works

– The Technology

Wavebrake's floating wave attenuator uses the force of Mother Nature against itself — disrupting laminar wave flow and extracting energy through friction and a canceling effect. The result is industry-leading coastal protection and dock protection without reflective rebound damage.

01

Wave Energy Enters the System

The multi-faceted module surface presents a porous face that accepts incoming wave energy and channels it into cavities between connected modules — rather than reflecting it back.

02

Turbulence Extracts Energy

Porous cavities contain the resulting turbulence, extracting wave forces through friction and forming a "canceling effect." Lower modules fill with water, upper modules provide buoyancy.

03

Protected, Calm Water Behind

The attenuated wave that passes through carries a fraction of its original energy. The system floats vertically to meet tide and storm surge — maintaining peak performance in all conditions.

04

Adapts to Changing Conditions

Unlike fixed structures, Wavebrake systems can be reconfigured, expanded, or relocated as coastal conditions evolve. Sections can be removed, cleaned or replaced without closing the facility.

05

Marine Ecology Undisturbed

Wavebrake is porous and allows necessary minimal wave energy through to prevent water stagnation. It does not inhibit tidal fluctuations, impede littoral drift, or disrupt marine life migration.

06

Shoreline Accretion Promoted

By reducing wave energy at the shoreline, Wavebrake creates conditions for natural sediment accumulation — actively rebuilding beach mass and restoring ecological balance over time.

Coastal Protection & Dock Protection for Every Site

– Use Cases

From municipal harbors to private marina developments — our wave attenuator is configured to your specific site, wave profile, and coastal protection objectives.

Marina Breakwaters & Dock Protection

Wavebrake provides proven dock protection — creating calm mooring environments, eliminating chop from boat traffic, shielding docks and lifts from wave damage, and enabling safe vessel boarding in all weather.

Marina Developers & Marina Owners

🏠

Residential Harbours & Dock Protection

Protect private waterfront properties with quiet-water environments, effective dock protection from storm-driven wave action, and safe boating and recreation — all with a low profile that preserves the scenic view.

Property Developers & Residential

🏖️

Beach Stabilization

Create offshore shoals to slow wave energy, prevent sand migration, and rebuild beach mass through natural sediment accretion processes.

Municipal & Property Owners

🐟

Marine Habitat Creation

Wavebrake structures act as artificial reefs — creating fish havens, supporting reef restoration, and promoting living shoreline ecosystems.

Environmental Agencies & Conservation

🌊

Coastal Protection & Erosion Control

Deploy perpendicular or parallel wave attenuator structures as jetties, groins, or offshore breakwaters — providing comprehensive coastal protection tailored to your shoreline's specific erosion challenge.

Wave Attenuator Built to Last

– Technical Specifications

Every Wavebrake wave attenuator deployment is site-engineered for maximum coastal protection. The four primary performance variables — mass, width, depth, and configuration — are calibrated to your specific wave criteria.

Superior Coastal Protection vs. Conventional Systems

– Competitive Advantages

No Heavy Equipment Required

Installed with beachfront access and a small watercraft. No barges, cranes, or piling. No dust, noise, or facility closure during installation.

Dock Protection Without Rebound Damage

Unlike seawalls and stone breakwaters, Wavebrake absorbs energy rather than reflecting it — delivering true dock protection and eliminating collateral wave damage to adjacent properties and structures.

Rides Tides & Storm Surge

Floats vertically with water level — always positioned optimally in the wave. Conventional concrete pontoons lift and shift; Wavebrake does not.

Maintenance-Free Operation

Constant motion washes the system. Biofouling adds weight and improves performance. Individual 25 ft sections can be removed, serviced, and returned to service quickly.

Permanent or Temporary

Deploy as a semi-permanent installation or a seasonal/temporary system. Easily repositioned as conditions change — no permitting headaches from permanent infrastructure.
